PRECEDENT PROJECT: HOWARD HOUSE
In this project, research was conducted on Brian Mackay-Lyons to grasp a deeper understanding of vernacular architecture. His project, Howard House, in Nova Scotia was used to further develop digital skills using programs such as Rhinoceros and Adobe Illustrator.
LOCKHART PROJECT
This project explored how architecture responds to external features by either embracing or rejecting the elements. Through researching Brian Mackay-Lyons and his work, it was understood that he had a harmonious interaction with his architecture and the natural environment. The work in this project was intended to create a design that deliberately showed how one rejected, embraced, or worked harmoniously with the elements. The work also included the different ways that Brian Mackay-Lyons made his structures interact with the ground.
